“The way to Tripoli went through a lot of control points and it took us eight days. We were afraid for our lives. If the Islamist militants captured us, they would kill us and if the police captured us they would steal all our money. In Libya, every man, young or old, carries a gun. As soon as we managed to reach Tripoli, they squeezed us all in one house, with 70 other people, divided in men and women according to ethnicity. During the night we could not sleep because there were a lot of gunshots and fights outside the windows.”
